The use of sodium alginate
Sodium alginate: white or light yellow powder, molecular formula (C6H7NaO6) x. It is a natural polysaccharide with the stability, solubility, viscosity, and safety required for pharmaceutical excipients. In 1881, British chemist E C. Stanford first conducted scientific research on alginate extracts from brown seaweed. He found that the extract of alginic acid has several interesting characteristics, and it has the ability to concentrate solution, form gel and film. So he submitted several applications for industrial production. However, large-scale industrial production of alginate was not carried out until 50 years later. Commercial production began in 1927 and currently produces approximately 30000 tons worldwide annually, of which 30% is used for the food industry and the remaining for other industries.
Introduction:
Sodium alginate, also known as sodium alginate, kelp gum, alginate, or alginate, is a natural polysaccharide carbohydrate extracted from kelp. Widely used in food, textiles, printing and dyeing, papermaking, daily chemical products, etc., as thickeners, emulsifiers, stabilizers, adhesives, sizing agents, etc.
